The story so far:

The Chrysler were formed in the spring of 2002 by songwriters and singers Anders E Rudström and Pelle Lindroth. They where both members of the electronic dance music collective Moder Jords Massiva, but needed an outlet for the more introspective and mellower songs they had both been writing for some time. Playing and singing each other's songs made them realise they had plenty of material strong enough for an album. The Stockholm drum 'n bass champion, Iceland-born Saemundur Graettisson, aka Nya Sampan (also in MJM), was invited to the project as piano and melodica player and the first lineup was completed with MJM bass player Herman Arfwedsson.

In the summer of '02 a demo was made in the bedroom of another MJM member, Henrik von Euler. It consisted of about 7 or 8 songs and was sent around to radio stations and magazines. The Chrysler got some attention in articles, airplay on Swedish radio and also got around to doing gigs around central Sweden and Norway, now backed up by fab drummer/guitarist Martin Sörbom, aka Swedish Martin.

The recording of the album 'Failures and Sparks' was commenced later that summer in the MJM studio in Stockholm and sprawled across that very cold winter, eventually finished in march 24th 2003. It was released in November that year by Flora & Fauna on their new label Idiotwind. The album consisted of ten carefully chosen tracks that dealt with life's darkness as well as it's bright spots. There was a lot of looking back going on in those songs.

The album received great reviews but didn't sell very well. The band worked on their live act, which now at times included von Euler on glockenspiel, trumpet player Ulrik Karlsson, sax/clarinet player Ludvig Rylander (both MJM/the concretes) and violinist Anna Havnesköld. The band hosted a club in stockholm called the Chrysler Club, where they invited other swedish singers to perform with them. Guests included Fireside singer Kristofer Åström as well as the Concrete ladies Viktoria Bergsman and Maria Eriksson.

In the summer of 2004 the album 'Cold War Classic' was recorded in a little yellow cabin outside Katrineholm. Playing together more as a band, but still carefully produced by von Euler, The Chrysler received a lot more attention and praise when this album was released, having had the slow but steadily growing reputation of 'Failures and Sparks' and the supreme quality of the new songs to thank for it.

In the fall of 2004 new bass player Peter Rudström joined the band completing today's line-up. By that time 'Failures and Sparks' had also been discovered by the Americans at Parasol, and in October 2005 their label Galxy Gramophone released the album in the US to great critical acclaim.

The latest release from the Great Chrysler Songbook is the "First Blood EP" with its title track taken from "Cold War Classic". The EP also includes two new Chrysler originals plus a cover of the enigmatic Dylan song "Changing of the Guards".
